This is the saga of our new house.

On April 3rd we contracted with Fox and Jacobs to have a home built in Frisco, TX.  Art Quagliani was our sales person and he sold us the Independence floorplan.  We picked out our lot, which will be on a cul-de-sac and is a bit larger than the normal sized lot.  Art said that construction should start in July and the home would be finished sometime in October.

This is the lot when we picked it.  The back of our property is that orange fence you see.

On June 17th we went out to the site to see how the neighborhood was progressing and we saw that they had started work on our lot.  The very early stages of construction had begun!

They had placed stakes where the four corners of the house would be and we saw that we should have a fairly nice sized backyard, which we hoped for when we picked the lot.  We also noticed that the driveway appeared to be dug out on the right side when it should've been on the left.  We mentioned it to Art and he told the construction guys and they corrected that.

On June 21st I went back out to the site and saw that they had done a little bit more work to prep the lot for foundation framing, including digging out the driveway on the left hand side rather than the right.  I took some pictures with my cell phone as I didn't have the regular camera with me at the time.

The stakes were now replaced with small blue flags and the site wasn't perfectly level, but tilled up into small piles of dirt.  Other sites that were further along than ours looked similar while they tapped the utilities, framed the foundation and prepared for the pouring of concrete.

On June 24th Evie and I went out to the site, Evie's first visit in a week.  We were pleased to see that the frame of the foundation was in place and the channels were dug in preparation for running the utilities.  We now have a pile of dirt and a pile of sticks!

June 30th we took a trip out to the site and saw a few changes in the site as preparations for running the pipes that would be in our foundation continued.  A special trench had been dug out for the water line, as our house has a flipped floorplan, which requires the pipes to be put in backwards.  It'll probably be another week or two before we have cement.

Due to a busy weekend we went out to visit the house site on July 6th. We saw that all of the sewer lines and water lines had been run.

We made another weekend visit on July 15th and saw that we were prepped for concrete, with the tension cables having been run and the ground tarped to keep moisture in.

On July 21st we went out after work and saw that we had concrete poured for our foundation, driveway and sidewalks. This is the view from the backyard looking out to the street.

We had visited again on July 26th, but nothing new had been done. We skipped that weekend and came back out on August 4th to discover that we had a frame. The two floors had completely been built and the roof gables were sitting in the front yard, along with the house wrap.

I've setup a photo gallery of all of the pictures here. Check out the slideshow by clicking the link on the left. It's really neat.
