Visit to Italy

by on Apr.28, 2009, under General

We recently went to Italy to meet and visit with my family and had a wonderful time.  We got to visit lots of areas around Imperia and Genova where my family lives and grew up.  We shared many stories and got to know each other better.  We took about 1000 pictures, most of which I posted last night on www.hammis.com/gallery.  More pictures and a couple of videos are due still, so keep checking back.

Aside from a couple of travel snags there really wasn’t anything bad to say about the trip.  We had great food, saw a lot of cool places, had great conversation despite the language barrier and had lots of quality family time.

Catherine’s sick

by on Apr.17, 2009, under Catherine

Catherine has been a bit fussy the past few days so Evie took her to the doctor’s yesterday.  She’s got a double ear infection so the doctor put her on anti-biotics, which she is refusing to take.  We did find out her weight though, she’s 15 lbs 2 oz.  We’re hoping the ear infection doesn’t bother her on the trip or prevent her or us from sleeping well while we are there.

Buon Compleanno Papa!

by on Apr.15, 2009, under Damon

Happy 60th Birthday to my papa!  His birthday is April 16th and I know that it’s technically April 15th here, it’s actually almost April 16th where he is in Italy.

Elizabeth returns, Easter, family

by on Apr.14, 2009, under Catherine, Evie

Last Thursday Elizabeth returned home from Michigan and brought some relatives with her.  Evie’s mom, stepdad and aunt all came back with her to celebrate Easter with us and to witness and participate in Catherine’s dedication ceremony that we had planned for Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday we had two things happening at church.  Elizabeth was part of a skit the children’s group put on called Fish Tales that explained the death and resurrection of Christ using song and dance.  After that, during the regular service, Catherine was dedicated, where Evie, myself, our family and the church pledged to raise her in the Christian faith.  Catherine was wearing a gown that Evie’s aunt had made and the ceremony was very beautiful.  I have pictures of it up in the gallery.

Evie’s family is leaving today and we’ll begin final preparations for our trip to Italy on Sunday.  We will get to meet my father, sister, brother and hopefully more of that side of the family for the very first time.  I’ll post pictures when we return.

Speaking of pictures, March pictures and April until yesterday’s pictures have been posted in the gallery.

Traveling season has arrived

by on Apr.01, 2009, under General

I’m a little late with this post but wanted to get it in here before I forgot. All of the busy traveling that I had posted about before has begun. Evie, Elizabeth and Catherine all went to Michigan to visit with Evie’s family and friends. This was Catherine’s first plane trip and she did well on the flight according to Evie. Elizabeth is an old pro at this, having flown many times before and did well too. They left this past Saturday and Evie and Catherine will be returning on Friday. Elizabeth will be staying a bit longer and returning with Evie’s parents just before Easter.

Also, because Evie’s traveling she has the camera, which is why there haven’t been any March picture updates yet. I’ll do that this weekend when she gets back. We also found another old camera of ours and I’ll be posting some of the pictures that we found on that camera too.
